Special Registry Questionnaire

Fill in the basic case details to see whether there is an indication that the declaration can be handled by the Special Registry or whether you should contact the competent staffed Greek Consulate.

For births, Greek citizenship/municipal registration of the parent or child is assessed depending on the case.

4. Does the child acquire Greek citizenship automatically from birth?

5. Is there an official foreign civil act/certificate or a final court decision?

6. Do the act details match the Municipal Register details?

Names, surnames, father and mother names, dates and places should generally match.

7. Where has the original civil registry act been registered?

8. How was the marriage dissolved?

9. Does any special exception apply?

Permanent residence must be proven with a public document and Apostille where required.

10. What is your current country of residence?

The country of residence helps check whether residence is indeed different from the country where the event occurred.

11. In which country was the divorce decision/act issued?

12. When was the divorce decision/act issued?

13. Is there an EU Regulation certificate?

For EU divorces issued from 01.08.2022 onward, an Article 36 certificate is requested. For earlier divorces after the application of Regulation 2201/2003, an Article 39 certificate is requested.
